Cut
Of all the 4Cs, cut has the greatest impact on a diamond's beauty.
Many people assume cut simply refers to the diamond's shape, such as round, oval or emerald. In reality, cut describes how precisely a diamond has been proportioned and polished to reflect light.
A beautifully cut diamond captures and returns light, creating exceptional brilliance, sparkle and fire. Even a diamond with excellent colour and clarity can appear dull if the cut is poor.
Because of this, cut is often the characteristic we like to remind our clients to consider.

Colour
Diamond colour is graded on a scale from D to Z.
Diamonds graded D are completely colourless and among the rarest available, while stones further down the scale gradually display warmer yellow or brown tones.
That doesn't mean colourless is always the right choice.

Carat
Carat measures a diamond's weight—not its size.
One carat is equal to 0.2 grams, but two diamonds with the same carat weight can appear quite different depending on their shape, proportions and cut.
Rather than chasing the biggest possible diamond, we focus on finding the right balance between size, beauty and practicality. Sometimes a slightly smaller, beautifully cut diamond will appear larger and more brilliant than a heavier stone with less ideal proportions.

Clarity
Almost every natural diamond contains tiny internal characteristics known as inclusions.
These microscopic features formed naturally as the diamond developed deep within the earth millions of years ago and are part of what makes every diamond unique.
Clarity grading measures the size, number and visibility of these inclusions. While flawless diamonds are exceptionally rare, the ones that have lower rating for clarity, most inclusions are invisible to the naked eye and have no impact on the beauty of the finished stone.
